The Exorcism of Places
An afternoon seminar

Sunday, 5th February, at The Atlantis Bookshop

Any place where people live builds up a psychic residue, an atmosphere. Some places are welcoming and happy, but others are not. And those places in which there has been violent crime, abuse or great suffering become atmospherically tainted – so that then children and sensitive adults can never be happy in them.

Locations where suicide has occurred, or where dark magic has been regularly practiced are the worst of all. Such a place can be haunted by unquiet souls, or infested by unclean spirits.

In this seminar you will learn the traditional, tried-and-tested methods for casting out evil from a soiled place, and bringing in the Light.

Time - 13:00 to 17:00
Fee - £35

David Goddard is an occult teacher and author with over thirty years experience in the Work of Liberation (Exorcism).
If you would like to attend please note that places are limited to booking essential.
To book your place please contact The Atlantis Bookshop.
Thank you.

Saturday 10 November - Psyche: The Descent into Love a workshop with Jane Meredith at The Atlantis Bookshop. £45.
Spend a day traversing the mythic realms with Psyche, the beautiful Greek maiden who falls in love with Eros, the God of Love. But their story is not a simple one and Psyche faces enormous tests, growing beyond all she has ever known and finally travelling into the Underworld. Her story represents the journey of the soul as it deepens into love and touches divinity.
In this workshop we will step inside the myth and walk in Psyche's footsteps, discovering from the inside our connections to this myth and arriving at new understandings. This quest for love, which holds such a central place in human lives, is not just an unfolding of strength and beauty. In love we are tested again and again, each time taken into our weakest places and each time discovering strengths in ourselves that we never knew.
Undergoing Psyche's four challenges for ourselves we learn the art of discernment in love, we face our fears, we receive the blessings of the waters of the sacred river and we venture into the Underworld to make a request of the Dark Goddess herself. Using dynamic ritual, individual and group processes and creative journaling we quest deeper and deeper into our own hearts, seeking the place where we can claim ourselves as Lover and Beloved. Clear the wounds of the heart, listen to your truths and dare to offer love...

You can also clear present as well as past life vows, curses on love, and shamanistic exorcism, your goal is becoming who you really are, and not how you think you should be!

We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Seven Planets in Astrology: Magical Astrology with Cat Cox
Monday evenings commencing 4th March

This eight week course will explore the nature and meaning of the seven traditional planets within astrology. These are the gods - the archetypal powers of astrology - who move through the heavens in their eternal cycles and whose celestial patterns at our birth are crystallized in the birth chart. Everything in the cosmos and in human experience is attributed to one of these seven powers and their symbolic correspondences are the foundations of astrology and astrological magic.

We will be using astrology, myth and experiential work to develop our understanding of these fundamental astrological symbols and we will also work with our own charts.

When: Monday evenings.
Where: The Atlantis Bookshop.
Price: £15 per class.
How to book: Email or call Bali at The Atlantis Bookshop to reserve your place now.

We only contact customers who have previously asked to be kept informed of what we're up to.

Book Launch

Witchcraft in Early Modern Poland: 1500-1800
Friday 29th November 2013
7-9pm, The Atlantis Bookshop

We are very excited to be launching this landmark book, being the first comprehensive study of Polish demonology examined together with the records of witchcraft trials in Wielkopolska. The author, Wanda Wyporska, will be with us for the evening and her detailed exploration reveals many different versions of the witch: from harbinger of evil to much-admired housewife, shattering the assumption that the witch was universally loathed. Contemporary voices reveal an awareness of the dynamics behind the persecution and an intensely critical attitude towards abuses rife in the courtroom. This groundbreaking new work looks at the many reasons why individuals used witchcraft, accused each other and admitted to carrying out witchcraft. It goes behind the trials to discover narratives of abuse, power struggles, and the relationships between men and women in the early modern period.

If you would like to attend, please reply so that we can keep a track of numbers.
If you're unable to attend but would like an inscribed copy of the book, we are able to organise that too. Please note that this is a handsome hardback offering and should be £55.00 but we are pleased to be able to offer it to you for a special launch price of just £27.50 plus P&P.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Shop on the night for the launch party.

Best wishes
Bali Beskin

Wow - What a week!

We are delighted to welcome not one but two wonderful speakers and teachers to The Atlantis Bookshop next week.
John Michael Greer will be with us on Wednesday evening and Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki will be here on Thursday talking about The Trickster.

Wednesday 4th June 7pm £10
John Michael Greer - High Magic for Druids, Pagans and Heathens

Since its revival in the 19th century, ceremonial magic has remained stuck in a Judeo-Christian paradigm, with Hebrew divine names, medieval Christian cosmology, and monotheism as the default options. It's long past time to put the powerful spiritual and magical techniques of the tradition into the hands of those who experience divinity in different ways. Join archdruid, polytheist,
and ceremonial magician John Michael Greer for a lively exploration of how to create or adapt a ceremonial magic practice suited to your own spiritual path -- no matter what that might be.

Thursday 5th June 7pm £10
Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki - The Trickster: The God Of Laughter, Lies, And Larceny

He is the God of opposites, he coaxes, steals, changes shape and even sex. He is the scourge of those who take themselves too seriously. He rules Lawyers, Merchants, Thieves, Fools and Travellers. He is Reynard the Fox and Loki the slayer of Baldur. As a baby he steals Cattles and outwits Apollo. He wears a winged hat and sandals, and can charm maid or crone. He is the archetypal scoundrel and he is still with us though you may not recognise him.
But is The Trickster God as black as he is painted? Remember he is also the Messenger and the God of Wit with a sliver tongue. As Shapeshifiter he is also linked to the Acting profession, theatre and Films. Is there a serious side to him…Oh Yes. He gets himself into all kinds of difficulties and then shows us how to get out of them... Above all he gives us Laughter, shows us how to Change situations and how to Adapt to whatever Life throws at us. We have a lot to thank the Trickster for and he also gives us someone to blame.
Every Tradition has a Trickster and we can see him down the ages from the Clown with his Motley and pigs bladder on a stick. (The only one who can insult the King without fear of reprisal and in doing so make him see where he has gone wrong) to the Comedian who makes us laugh at him, and who sometimes shows us the Tragedy that lies beneath the laughter.
We can learn so much from this God-Form, he is a Teacher at the highest Level, if only we can see through the Mask he wears. Coyote, Hermes, Reynard, Loki, Raven, Anazasi, Brer Rabbit, Pan, Puck and Robin Goodfellow, he has worn many faces in the past. But he has treiumphed over Time and is still with us. Think Jack sparrow, Bugs Bunny and Top-Cat, Bart Simpson and even Doctor Who... He is eternal and eternally amusing and, irritating and often dangerous at one and the same time. He is and will always BE THE TRICKSTER.

Booking is essential due to the popularity of these speakers.

As ever the price includes light refreshments - Pimms will be served if the weather is lovely.

Please book your place by contacting Bali at The Atlantis Bookshop either by email or telephone 020 7405 2120.
Thank you.
